Mary Eileen McDonnell born 28 April 1952, is an American stage acting, film and television actress. McDonnell has been awarded the Academy Award nod for the role she was on Dances with Wolves, as Stands With A Fist. In addition to this role McDonnell is known for her role as Laura Roslin (President of Battlestar Galactica), the president's spouse in Independence Day as well as her main role in the film as Donnie Darko's mom.
